Design of a construction site in a healthcare facility supported by simulative approaches

Abstract

This research aims at providing a model to support the design of a low-impact construction site, in a healthcare facility, through an integrated system of BIM models, as databases of geometric information and semantics relating to use, and qualitative simulations of energetic- environmental phenomena and behaviour and activities of the actors involved, developed through a Game Engine. The interaction between the “enriched” model and the simulation environment represents a possible way of estimation of the risks, costs and impact on the healthcare setting, supporting the selection of the best management and design solutions.
